Following the Philadelphia Phillies’ 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, veteran slugger Kyle Schwarber shared his perspective on facing one of baseball’s premier teams.
Despite acknowledging the Dodgers’ talent, Schwarber emphasized that the Phillies are focused on playing their own brand of baseball rather than treating any opponent differently.
Speaking after the game, Schwarber noted that while the Dodgers are widely recognized as one of the league’s top clubs, Philadelphia has confidence in its own roster as well. He stressed that the Phillies approach every series with the same mindset and are determined to stick to their identity rather than adjusting their style based on the opponent.
Schwarber provided Philadelphia’s only offense in the loss, launching a solo home run while also striking out twice. The homer continued what has been another productive season for the veteran power hitter.

Now in his fifth year with the Phillies, Schwarber is batting .238 with 22 home runs, 39 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and one stolen base through 54 games. The former Indiana Hoosiers standout has also played for the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, and Boston Red Sox during his major league career.
His latest home run generated considerable attention online. The blast was the 362nd of Schwarber’s career, moving him past Joe DiMaggio on the all-time home run list. It also kept him on pace for one of the most prolific power seasons of his career.
Statisticians also highlighted Schwarber’s place among some of baseball’s legendary sluggers. With 209 home runs during his first five seasons in Philadelphia, he ranks among the most productive power hitters ever over a player’s first five years with a franchise, joining names such as Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, Ralph Kiner, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Albert Pujols.

Despite the defeat, Philadelphia remains in second place in the National League East with a 29-28 record. The club has been hovering around .500 recently, posting a 5-5 mark over its last ten games while continuing its road trip against the Dodgers.
