GOOD NEWS: The Mariners Confirms Return Of Another Highly Experience Fans-Favorite

The Seattle Mariners received encouraging news regarding the recovery of star catcher Cal Raleigh, who has been sidelined since mid-May with a right oblique strain.

Raleigh recently took an important step forward in his rehabilitation by swinging a bat for the first time since being placed on the 10-day injured list on May 14. According to reports, the switch-hitting catcher completed 15 tee swings from both sides of the plate and is scheduled to meet with Seattle’s medical staff at T-Mobile Park as he continues progressing toward a return.

Although the Mariners have not announced a timetable for his activation, the latest update suggests Raleigh is making steady progress and moving closer to rejoining the lineup.

Before his injury, the 29-year-old endured a difficult start to the 2026 season, producing a .161 batting average with a .560 OPS. Those numbers were a sharp contrast to his outstanding recent performances, including a Silver Slugger Award in 2025 and a Platinum Glove Award in 2024. Despite his early-season struggles, Raleigh remains one of the most valuable catchers in baseball due to his combination of power, defense, and leadership.

Over his major league career, Raleigh has already hit 160 home runs and owns a .472 slugging percentage, making him a key part of Seattle’s long-term success.

The Mariners have managed to climb into first place in the American League West while playing without their star catcher. However, if Seattle hopes to make a serious push toward its first American League pennant, getting Raleigh healthy and productive again will be crucial.

For now, the organization and its fans can take comfort in the fact that his recovery appears to be trending in the right direction, even if a specific return date has yet to be determined.
