HUGE BOOST FOR THE BLUE DEVILS: Done Deal!!! Manny Diaz Strikes Again, Landing Another Elite Prospect in Massive Recruiting Win

Manny Diaz and the Duke Blue Devils got their summer recruiting season off to an impressive start by securing a commitment from highly regarded tight end prospect Parker Newman.

Newman, a consensus four-star recruit from Sevierville, Tennessee, announced his pledge to Duke shortly after arriving on campus for his official visit. His commitment represents a significant victory for the Blue Devils, who beat out several major college football programs for his services, including Penn State Nittany Lions and Tennessee Volunteers.

Before committing to Duke, Newman had planned to take an official visit to Penn State the following week. However, Duke’s coaching staff moved quickly to secure his commitment before that trip could take place. The strategy paid off, as Newman chose to end his recruitment early and join the Blue Devils.

Ranked as the No. 383 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Newman also attracted interest from several powerhouse programs, including Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas A&M Aggies, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Newman becomes the eighth commitment in Duke’s 2027 recruiting class and currently stands as the highest-rated player in the group. His addition has already boosted the Blue Devils’ recruiting ranking, moving the class from No. 53 to No. 40 nationally.

With several other highly regarded recruits visiting campus during the weekend, Duke’s recruiting momentum could continue to build. Additional commitments may push the Blue Devils’ 2027 class closer to the national Top 25 and further strengthen the foundation Diaz is building in Durham.
