Kansas State has suspended its soccer head coach after an incident involving inappropriate language. The Wildcats took disciplinary action against Colleen Corbin when music with offensive lyrics was played during pregame warm-ups ahead of a spring exhibition match. Although she objected to the lyrics, the second-year coach repeated the same offensive words while addressing the situation.
The Manhattan Mercury first reported the story, noting that the lyrics included a racial slur. Following a review, athletic director Gene Taylor informed Corbin earlier this month that she would face a two-week suspension.
In an official statement, the athletic department explained that the suspension stemmed from the warm-up incident and Corbin’s decision to repeat the offensive language while addressing it. The matter was also referred to the university’s Civil Rights and Title IX office. The department emphasized its commitment to maintaining respect among coaches and players and said it takes such issues seriously.

Corbin, hired in late 2024, is just the second head coach in the program’s history. She guided the Wildcats to a promising 2025 campaign, finishing 7-6-5—the team’s first winning season since its launch in 2016. Now entering her second year, Corbin’s team is currently in spring play and is set to face Creighton in an exhibition game on April 12.
