Pogačar Skips 2025 Vuelta to Focus on Recovery, Opening Almeida and Ayuso’s Path.

By announcing that Pogačar would not take part in the 2025 Vuelta a España, UAE Team Emirates-XRG has, to a certain extent, pressed a pause on the unforgiving schedule that the Slovenian has toed for the better part of his career.

After a season full of relentless wins, this strategic move aligns better for his health and performance in the long run, as opposed to riding opportunities in the near future.

This Year’s Cumulative Achievements Makes It One Pogačar’s Best.

Pogačar has had a phenomenal start to the 2025 season, riding to great success in the Spring Classics, where he added Strade Bianche, Tour of Flanders, and Liège–Bastogne–Liège to his already impressive palmarès.

Not to mention the Tour de France, where he firmly established himself with yet another commanding victory and his 4 th yellow jersey, further engraving himself as a rider in this generation.

He now had a Finish Line to chase, the Vuelta. His brutally demanding schedule for the rest of the season included more than 3 weeks of racing, the Vuelta’s Punishing 3 week brutal climbs.

Given the rest of his season’s achievements, a reward or break in this form would risk stretching things a bit too far with Pogačar’s achievements for the year.

Prioritizing Recovery and Maintaining Overall Good Health.
