South Carolina is looking to bounce back after a rough 4–8 campaign and took a small but notable step forward Saturday afternoon by adding a wide receiver from an unexpected source.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the Gamecocks have signed Holy Cross transfer Charly Mullaly. Mullaly appeared in 18 games over three seasons with the FCS program, finishing his career there with 333 receiving yards. This past season, he played in five games, hauling in 17 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown.
Mullaly began to emerge as a receiver during the 2024 season, appearing in four games at the position after primarily contributing on special teams as a freshman. That year, he recorded eight catches for 136 yards and a score, a significant jump from his lone reception for eight yards during the 2023 season.
Now, Mullaly faces a major jump in competition, moving from the Patriot League to the SEC. South Carolina is betting that he can handle the transition as the program works to reshape its roster under Shane Beamer, who remains in Columbia for the 2026 season despite last fall’s struggles.

A New Jersey native, Mullaly starred at the Peddie School in Hightstown, where he set school records for single-season receiving yards and touchdowns.
After preserving a redshirt in 2024, Mullaly will have two years of eligibility remaining.
He becomes the latest offensive addition for South Carolina ahead of the 2026 season, joining recent NC State offensive line transfer Jaccarius Peak.
