The Buffalo Bills made an impressive playoff push in 2024, only to fall short against the Kansas City Chiefs. A key concern entering last season was the lack of a true No. 1 wide receiver—and that question mark still lingers. While Khalil Shakir has emerged as a solid playmaker, he hasn’t quite stepped into the WR1 role. Keon Coleman has flashed potential, and Joshua Palmer—brought in to help replace the departed Amari Cooper—adds depth but isn’t viewed as a top option.
One name gaining traction as a potential trade target is Denver Broncos veteran Courtland Sutton. NFL analyst Anthony Palacios of Last Word on Sports suggested Buffalo could be in the mix if Sutton is moved.
“Buffalo, after losing Mack Hollins to the Patriots and without any talks to bring back Amari Cooper, could pursue a new WR1 this offseason,” Palacios wrote. “Sutton could thrive catching passes from one of the league’s strongest arms in Josh Allen.”
Sutton is heading into the final year of his four-year, $60 million deal and has been surrounded by trade rumors as he pushes for an extension in Denver. Despite the chatter, Sutton remains hopeful about staying put.
“My team has had good talks with the front office, and I think things are moving in the right direction,” Sutton told The Denver Post. “I’m optimistic about the chance to finish my career here.”
Now entering his eighth NFL season, Sutton is coming off a career-best 81-catch, 1,000-yard season—his second time hitting that milestone.
