All-Pro Safety Justin Simmons Expresses Interest in Joining Buffalo Bills, Calling It “Special”
Denver Broncos Safety Justin Simmons has earned his share of accolades throughout his career. A four-time All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowler, Simmons is known for his playmaking ability, and in 2022, he co-led the league in interceptions. Since being drafted by the Broncos as a third-round pick in 2016, Simmons has become one of the top safeties in the NFL. Yet, despite his individual success, he acknowledges something crucial is still missing from his career: a shot at a championship.
In his eight seasons with Denver, Simmons has never played in a postseason game. His rookie year saw the Broncos coming off a Super Bowl win, but since then, the team has failed to make a playoff appearance, with Simmons experiencing only one winning season during his tenure.
In 2024, Simmons joined the Atlanta Falcons, believing the team was primed for a deep playoff run. The Falcons signed quarterback Kirk Cousins and had an impressive collection of offensive weapons, including Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Kyle Pitts. On defense, Simmons joined forces with Grady Jarrett, Matthew Judon, and Jessie Bates III. Despite these high-profile additions, Atlanta finished the season 8-9 — good for second in their division, but not enough to secure a playoff spot.
Now, Simmons is hoping to change that in 2025 by joining a Super Bowl contender. In a recent appearance on Up & Adams, Simmons was asked what he was looking for in his next team. Without being prompted, he named the Buffalo Bills as one of the top teams he would consider joining, alongside Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
“I mentioned it in a podcast recently,” Simmons said. “Teams like Buffalo, Philly, Cincinnati — teams that are always in the mix. It would be special to play for any of those teams.”
The Bills’ current safety depth chart includes Taylor Rapp, Cole Bishop, Darrick Forrest, and Damar Hamlin. If the Bills don’t bring in another safety during the upcoming draft, they could look to Simmons as a potential addition to their secondary.
