The Philadelphia Phillies head into the 2026 season with plenty of motivation after a strong 96–66 campaign ended in disappointment with an NLDS loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Determined to bounce back, the Phillies made several offseason moves, including re-signing star slugger Kyle Schwarber and adding new faces like Brad Keller, Adolis García, and others. At the same time, they moved on from key contributors such as Ranger Suárez, Harrison Bader, David Robertson, and Nick Castellanos, giving the roster a fresh look heading into the new year.
As Opening Day approaches, the Phillies made a major roster decision by promoting top prospect Justin Crawford to the big-league squad. The young outfielder, ranked among the top prospects in baseball, has officially earned a spot on the Opening Day roster, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Crawford’s promotion comes after an impressive run in the minors. Playing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, he hit .334 across 112 games while contributing seven home runs, 23 doubles, 46 stolen bases, and 47 RBIs. His consistency follows a strong 2024 season, where he posted a .313 average across multiple minor league levels.

His development, combined with a standout spring training—including a hard-hit triple against Tarik Skubal—made the decision easier for Philadelphia’s front office. The organization clearly believes he is ready to take the next step.
With his speed, hitting ability, and overall upside, Crawford now gets his first real opportunity at the MLB level. Phillies fans have every reason to be excited, as the young outfielder could quickly emerge as an impact player and a key piece of the team’s future.
