Bills Expected to Draft Emeka Egbuka to Boost Josh Allen’s Receiving Corps

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen enjoyed an MVP-winning season in 2024, throwing for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, despite the team lacking a top-tier wide receiver.

Last offseason, the Bills traded away their No. 1 wideout, Stefon Diggs, to the Houston Texans, which left many scratching their heads. However, the offense found a new rhythm as Allen adapted, distributing the ball to whichever receiver was open, rather than relying on Diggs. Players like Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Mack Hollins stepped up, but the team still needs additional receiving threats.

With Hollins now with the New England Patriots and the addition of Joshua Palmer from the Los Angeles Chargers, the Bills could further bolster their receiving options. Holding the No. 30 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Bills are in a good position to select a high-potential player, especially if some wide receivers fall down the draft board.

In a recent NFL Mock Draft, NFL Network analyst Maurice Jones-Drew projected that the Bills will select Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Jones-Drew described Egbuka as a player with great football IQ, excellent route-running skills, and the toughness to make contested catches, making him a perfect fit for Allen’s offense.

Egbuka, who played a pivotal role in Ohio State’s national championship run last year, recorded 81 receptions, 1,011 yards, and 10 touchdowns in 16 games. Over his four years at Ohio State, Egbuka adapted to various quarterbacks, showing versatility and a high level of consistency.

NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein praised Egbuka’s fluid athleticism, solid size, and ability to work from the slot. While not the fastest player, his ball-tracking skills and competitive nature after the catch make him a reliable option for teams running heavy three-wideout sets.

With the No. 30 pick, the Bills have several potential paths to explore, but adding a player like Egbuka would be a valuable step in strengthening Allen’s receiving options.
