Former Arkansas Transfer Guard Phoenix Stotijn Commits to Indiana Women’s Basketball
The Indiana women’s basketball team has undergone significant roster changes this offseason, losing six players to the transfer portal—Yarden Garzon, Lilly Meister, Lexus Bargesser, Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, Julianna LaMendola, and Henna Sandvik. In addition, the program said goodbye to graduate seniors Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish, and Karoline Striplin.
In response, head coach Teri Moren has been actively working to rebuild the squad for the upcoming season. So far, Indiana has brought in Alabama transfer guard Chloe Spreen, four-star Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year Maya Makalusky, and four-star Miss Missouri recipient Nevaeh Caffey.
Now, former Arkansas guard Phoenix Stotijn joins the list of new additions. Stotijn, who chose Indiana over other finalists including Arizona State, Clemson, Illinois, and Michigan, made her commitment late Sunday night.
As a freshman at Arkansas, the 5-foot-9 guard appeared in 21 games with 12 starts, averaging 7.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She shot 31.7% from the field and 26% from three-point range. Stotijn posted double-digit scoring performances in four games and tallied at least four assists in five contests.
Arkansas ended their season with a 10-22 record, tying for last in the SEC with a 3-13 conference mark. Stotijn heads to Bloomington with three years of eligibility remaining.
