All-Pro Safety Justin Simmons Says Joining Buffalo Bills “Would Be Special”
Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills may have already made some key moves this offseason, but one of the NFL’s top free agents has just put the team on notice.
Justin Simmons, the former Denver Broncos All-Pro safety, is still looking for his next NFL home after being released earlier this offseason. And in a recent interview, Simmons opened up about where he might land—and made it clear that the Buffalo Bills are a team he holds in high regard.
“It would be special,” Simmons said when asked about potentially joining the Bills. “They’ve got a great organization, great coaching staff, and obviously, a quarterback like Josh Allen—those opportunities don’t come around often.”
Simmons, 30, has been one of the most consistent and respected safeties in the league over the past several seasons. A two-time Pro Bowler and four-time second-team All-Pro, he’s known for his leadership, versatility, and ability to create turnovers. In 2023, he finished with 70 tackles, 3 interceptions, and a pair of forced fumbles in 15 games.
Bills Looking to Reload Secondary
After parting ways with longtime starters Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, the Bills have some questions in their secondary heading into 2025. While young talent like Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp is expected to step up, the team could use a veteran presence to anchor the back end of the defense—and Simmons could be the perfect fit.
Buffalo has made it to the playoffs five straight years under head coach Sean McDermott, but with key departures and a shifting roster, leadership and experience will be more valuable than ever.
“I want to win,” Simmons added. “I want to be part of something special. And from the outside looking in, Buffalo has built a culture that players want to be a part of.”
Still a Market for Simmons
Despite being one of the most accomplished free agents left on the board, Simmons is believed to be taking his time in finding the right fit. Several playoff contenders have reportedly expressed interest, but his comments about Buffalo suggest the Bills are very much in the conversation.
With training camp just a few months away, general manager Brandon Beane could be eyeing one more veteran addition to solidify a defense that remains championship-caliber.
Whether Simmons ends up in Buffalo remains to be seen—but for now, Bills fans have reason to be excited.
