HUGE BOOST: Gene Taylor Fire And Announce Another Highly Gifted Coach In 5-Years Blockbuster Deal

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Casey Alexander has been named the new head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball, with athletic director Gene Taylor announcing the hire on Friday.

Alexander leaves Belmont Bruins men’s basketball after seven seasons, during which he guided the program to 166 victories and captured four conference championships, including the Missouri Valley Conference title in 2026.

He steps in to replace Jerome Tang, who was dismissed on Feb. 15. The Wildcats wrapped up a difficult season with a 12–20 record after falling 105–91 to the BYU Cougars men’s basketball in the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

Alexander has agreed to a five-year deal that will pay him $3.3 million for the 2026–27 season. His salary will increase by $50,000 annually, reaching $3.5 million by the 2030–31 season.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the K-State family and eager to begin this new chapter,” Alexander said. “Kansas State has a proud tradition and an extremely passionate fan base, and I’m thankful to Gene Taylor for giving me the chance to be part of it.”
