Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has been honoured for his community volunteer work feeding the homeless.
On numerous occasions over the past decade, the rock legend has worked epic shifts with organisations like Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission and Feed the Streets LA barbecuing food for homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles.
Dave even spent his 56th birthday in January making meals for people who had lost their homes in the devastating LA wildfires.
On Saturday night (18th October), Dave and his wife Jordyn Blum attended Hope The Mission’s annual gala event, Hope In The City Of Angels, at BMO Stadium where he was recognised for his altruism.
Explaining why they were celebrating Dave Grohl, Hope The Mission said: “Long regarded as one of the most respected and prolific presences in modern music, Dave Grohl has been equally passionate in his offstage service to his local community.
“Without fanfare, Dave has volunteered for days at a time, preparing and serving meals to people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
“At this year’s gala, we honour him for inspiring advocacy on behalf of the less fortunate in his backyard, just as his music has provided hope and solace for fans the world over.”
Dave said: “There’s something about the simple human interaction of handing someone a plate of food that needs food. When you ask them if they’d like beef or pork, and they say, ‘Both, please.’ And you give them both, and they say, ‘God bless you,’ they mean it.”
