A 40-year-old woman from Cambridge was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash on the eastbound Highway 401 just east of James Snow Parkway in Milton, Ontario, early Saturday morning.
Just after 10 a.m., provincial authorities say the woman’s vehicle struck a guide rail before a pickup truck traveling in the same direction collided with her disabled car. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. Her six-year-old daughter, who was also inside the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The driver and three passengers in the pickup truck escaped without harm. Debris from the crash struck a westbound transport truck, but no injuries were reported.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for several hours to allow Ontario Provincial Police to investigate the scene. OPP is urging anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Anyone with information can contact OPP at 905‑858‑8670.
