Canelo Alvarez and William Scull barely let their hands go during a dull encounter on Saturday night.
The Mexican superstar became a two-time undisputed super middleweight champion by overcoming Scull via unanimous decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Both fighters did more posturing than punching throughout as they set a new record for the fewest punches thrown in a 12-round fight tracked by CompuBox in the punch counter’s 40-year history.
In total, just 445 punches were thrown over the distance: Canelo with 152 punches and Scull with 293 punches.
The previous record was 459 blows from Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder’s sleep-inducing clash in December 2023.
