Kam Williams won over Big Blue Nation this past March with his determination, returning from a broken foot to compete in both the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.
The injury originally occurred on January 21, and he underwent surgery soon after. Despite that setback, Williams pushed to get back on the court for postseason play, where he contributed on both ends with his perimeter shooting and defensive length.
As Kentucky looks ahead to next season, Williams’ status with the team remains uncertain. According to his father, Greg Williams Sr., the decision may largely depend on what kind of role he would have if he returns.
“Kam is just waiting to see what his role is going to be,” his father shared. “Once you’re on the team, you never know exactly what direction they’re going the following year.”
Even so, there are strong indications that Williams would like to stay. His father emphasized that he enjoys being at Kentucky and hopes everything works out for him to remain with the program.
“He said he loves Kentucky. This is where he wants to be. I’m just looking to hear that everything’s finalized and this is where he’ll be,” Williams Sr. added.

Those comments should give fans some cautious optimism. If Williams does come back, he would provide Kentucky with a valuable two-way presence to build around next season.
In his freshman campaign, Williams averaged six points per game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range. He also showed consistency late in the year, knocking down at least one three-pointer in 12 of his final 14 games, including both of Kentucky’s NCAA Tournament appearances.
