BREAKING: Kansas State Gets Another Groundbreaking News

Kansas may emerge as the next destination for former Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards. After beginning his college career at Colorado and spending the last two seasons with the Wildcats, Edwards has entered the transfer portal and could remain in-state. According to a report from On3, the Kansas Jayhawks have shown interest in adding the dynamic playmaker to their roster.

Edwards’ agent indicated that visits are currently being arranged, with Kansas among the schools under consideration. A move across the Sunflower Showdown rivalry would certainly draw attention, given Edwards’ history with K-State.

Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing 170 pounds, Edwards has displayed flashes of explosiveness throughout his three collegiate seasons. However, his most recent year with the Wildcats was disrupted by injuries and uncertainty. Kansas State had planned to use him both as a running back and punt returner, but his season took a turn after he muffed the opening punt against Iowa State and left the game with an unexplained injury. He did not return for nearly a month.

Edwards appeared in only one complete game during his junior season, though it was a standout performance. He rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown in a 34–20 victory over UCF. Unfortunately, a setback the following week against Baylor sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He ultimately chose to preserve his redshirt and stepped away from the team.

In his absence, Joe Jackson assumed the starting role and delivered historic performances, including a program-record 293 rushing yards against Utah. Jackson also capped the season with 142 yards and three touchdowns versus Colorado.

Since entering the transfer portal, there has been limited news surrounding Edwards. Nebraska was once considered a possibility, though the Cornhuskers filled their running back needs elsewhere. West Virginia was also mentioned as a potential option. Kansas now appears to be a realistic landing spot where Edwards could revive his career.

Over three seasons, Edwards has totaled 1,072 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, along with 58 receptions for 449 yards and six receiving scores. His most impressive showing at Kansas State came during the 2024 Rate Bowl, where he amassed 223 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.

A former four-star recruit from Derby, Edwards initially committed to Kansas State before switching to Notre Dame and later Colorado prior to enrolling. Now, he appears poised for another move — one that could bring him back to Kansas, this time in Lawrence.
