Former Indiana Guard Myles Rice Transfers to Maryland
Myles Rice, who spent last season with the Indiana Hoosiers, is making another move within the Big Ten, announcing via Instagram that he will transfer to the Maryland Terrapins.
This marks Rice’s third team in as many years, having previously played for Washington State before his time at Indiana.
His transfer is the first portal addition under new Maryland head coach Buzz Williams, who took the job on April 1 after departing Texas A&M. Williams guided the Aggies to the second round of the 2024-25 NCAA Tournament before accepting the Maryland position.
A 6-foot-2 redshirt sophomore, Rice averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 32 games for Indiana, including 25 starts.
Before joining Indiana, Rice spent three years at Washington State. He redshirted in 2021-22 and took a medical redshirt the following year while undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He bounced back with an impressive season in Pullman, earning All-Pac-12 First Team honors and being named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year after putting up 14.8 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Maryland wrapped up the 2024-25 season with a 27-9 record, placing second in the Big Ten and reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before falling to top-seeded Florida.
Rice becomes the fourth Indiana player to commit to a new program this offseason, following Malik Reneau (Miami), Jakai Newton (Georgia State), and Gabe Cupps (Ohio State).
