Kyle Tucker Sends Strong Message After Cubs’ Thrilling Comeback Win
Friday night at Wrigley Field saw one of the wildest games in recent memory as the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks battled in an instant classic. After the Cubs built a commanding 7-1 lead through seven innings, the game took a dramatic turn. The Diamondbacks erupted for 10 runs in the top of the eighth, shocking the crowd. But the Cubs responded in kind—scoring six runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The hero of the night? Kyle Tucker, the Cubs’ high-profile offseason addition, launched a clutch go-ahead home run that ultimately secured the win for Chicago. Speaking on Cubs Postgame Live via Marquee Sports Network, Tucker reflected on the chaos and excitement of the dramatic comeback.
“It was definitely a lot of fun,” Tucker said. “A little crazy out there, but that made it even better.” When asked to sum up the night in one word, he simply replied: “Wild.”

And “wild” may be an understatement.
According to MLB historian Sarah Langs, the combined 16 runs scored in the eighth inning were the most ever in a single frame at Wrigley Field since its opening in 1916. Incredibly, the Cubs became just the seventh team in MLB history since 1900 to give up 10 or more runs in one inning and still come out victorious.
Back in the clubhouse postgame, Tucker was moved by the fan reaction to the team’s unlikely rally. “It was a really cool moment,” he said. “Just seeing everyone on their feet, cheering—it was something special.”
Tucker’s presence has already proven to be a game-changer for the Cubs early in the season. His latest clutch performance not only delivered a statement win but further cemented his growing legacy at Wrigley.
