MAJOR SETBACK!!! The Braves Lose Another Highly Talented Star To Top Rivals

The Cincinnati Reds already boasted a solid pitching staff, but it received an extra boost on Sunday with a new free-agent addition.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Reds have signed right-handed reliever Pierce Johnson.

Johnson, 34, appeared in 65 games for the Atlanta Braves during the 2025 season and posted an impressive 3.05 ERA. Over his Major League career, he has suited up for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Braves.

He spent the last two and a half seasons with Atlanta, recording a strong 2.91 ERA during that stretch. Overall, Johnson owns a 3.79 career ERA at the MLB level and averages 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

Standing 6-foot-2, Johnson brings a durable presence to the bullpen and has proven to be a reliable late-inning option. He was originally selected in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs out of Missouri State and hails from Denver, Colorado.

In addition to Johnson, the Reds also signed veteran utility player Garrett Hampson on Sunday, signaling that the club stayed busy strengthening its roster rather than spending the day focused on football.
