Bills Urged to Bring Back Veteran CB Rasul Douglas
Rasul Douglas may not have a Pro Bowl on his resume or be seen as one of the league’s elite corners, but he’s been a solid and dependable veteran for the Buffalo Bills, playing well alongside rising star Christian Benford over the past two seasons. With a packed offseason of extensions, the Bills always knew retaining Douglas would be a challenge.
Now, as April rolls in and the NFL Draft draws near, Douglas remains unsigned, leaving the door open for a possible return. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggests that re-signing Douglas would be a smart move for both sides at this stage.
“The Bills only have around $6 million in cap space and will need to look for value deals,” Knox writes. “Douglas could fit that profile after a rough 2024 season, where he allowed a 122.0 passer rating in coverage.”
While he’ll turn 31 in August, Douglas brings experience and playmaking ability—he’s recorded 14 interceptions between 2021 and 2023. He’s also familiar with Buffalo’s defensive system and could offer valuable depth and leadership ahead of the draft.
During his time with the Bills, Douglas has notched four interceptions and has proven to be a reliable starter at a position that’s often unpredictable. While money is tight in Buffalo, if Douglas’ market continues to stall, the Bills could make room for a reunion—especially if the price drops.
