Former standout in girls’ basketball for B-R Bollin to access the transfer website

Next season, a former star girls basketball player from Bridgewater-Raynham will play somewhere new.

Shay Bollin, a freshman at Duke University and former Trojan standout forward, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday that she intended to use the transfer portal to leave the university.

I’ve made the decision to use the NCAA transfer site and will be departing Duke University at the end of the current semester after much deliberation with my family, coaches, and close friends,” Bollin stated. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been able to play collegiate basketball and earn a top-notch education, and I am deeply appreciative of all of Duke University’s amazing support throughout the last year. I’m eager to start the next chapter and am really enthusiastic to see what the future brings.”

The 6’3″ native of Raynham played in eight games for the Blue Devils as a freshman, averaging 2.1 points and one rebound in 41 minutes off the bench. With a career-high nine points in a 111-50 victory against Charleston Southern in November, she helped lead Duke to a 26-7 regular season and an ACC second-place finish. headed by an assistant coach from the Boston Celtics

The Blue Devils, led by Kara Lawson, advanced to the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time since 2018 as a No. 3 seed, defeating No. 14 Iona in the first round before losing to No. 6 Colorado in overtime in the second round. However, they were defeated by eventual Final Four participant Virginia Tech in the ACC tournament semifinals.

Before missing her junior and senior years due to injury, Bollin, a 2022 graduate of B-R and the 2020 Taunton Daily Gazette Girls Basketball Player of the Year, averaged 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 2.2 steals per game as a sophomore for the Trojans as they won the Division I South championship. She also played well in AAU basketball for the Bay State Jaguars, and espnW listed her as the 33rd best girls basketball player in the country for the Class of 2022. Bollin, a three-year Trojan captain, was a McDonald’s All-American nominee in 2022 and the winner of the 2020 A Shot For Life challenge.
