Julio Jones, Legendary Falcons Wide Receiver, Announces Retirement
NFL icon Julio Jones has officially called it a career, bringing an end to one of the most remarkable runs in league history. Widely regarded as not only the best wide receiver to ever suit up for the Atlanta Falcons, but arguably the franchise’s greatest player overall, Jones made his retirement announcement fittingly on “404 Day” — a nod to Atlanta’s area code and a city he still holds dear.
Jones leaves behind an incredible legacy: 914 receptions, 13,703 receiving yards, and 66 touchdowns. His accolades include seven Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro honors, and a spot on the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2010s.
Though his time with the Falcons ended somewhat controversially when he was seen requesting a trade on live television, Jones made it clear during his farewell that his heart still belongs to Atlanta. He expressed deep gratitude for the city that drafted him and the fans who supported him throughout his career.
