Amir Leonard-Jean Charles, a defensive lineman for Lipscomb Academy, visited the Vols in Knoxville, Tennessee, recently. The 247Sports Composite Rankings place him as the No. 488 prospect in the 2025 class. The in-state student enjoyed his visit to the University of Tennessee, and he talked with Volunteer Country about his experience there afterward.
I really enjoyed the visit, and it was enjoyable in every way. Despite the fact that I didn’t speak with any commits, I did speak with my boyfriend, Carter.” He did discuss his specific discussion with linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, who just joined Michigan as their linebacker coach, and defensive analyst Levorn Harbin. “The coaches I spoke with were Coach BJ and Coach Chop. Everything went smoothly. They’re trying to get me to keep building while they’re keeping an eye on me’, he says, adding, ‘We were laughing and talking about our practice at Lipscomb.
One thing that stood out was that Coach [Josh] Heupel and all the other coaches were playing basketball with us. Really, we were just having fun. You don’t see that everywhere. I love the vibe the coaches were giving off that whole time.” He also talks about his future visit plans and where Tennessee stands in his recruitment. “I plan to come back and visit because Tennessee is one of my top schools now.”
Charles was teammates with two 2024 Tennessee signees, Kaleb Beasley and Edwin Spillman. He is also teammates with current Volunteers targets Kris Thompson and CJ Jimcoily. There are many targets at Lipscomb High School, and Charles is one of them. Landing one of those targets would be huge and could be a huge selling point to the remainder of the targets at the talented in-state program.
