Pittsburgh As the Pittsburgh Steelers get closer to their Week 16 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals, their injury report on day two of practice was far better than it was at the beginning of the week.
Nine Steelers players were either absent or limited throughout the first few days of practice. By day two, there were just four players left on the list.
Trenton Thompson (neck) and Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) were the safeties who did not play, and quarterback Kenny Pickett (ankle) and lineman Isaac Seumalo (shoulder) were also limited for the second straight day.
Before the team decides whether to use Pickett against the Bengals, head coach Mike Tomlin stated that he will have one more day to demonstrate his development. Mason Rudolph is the starting right now.
Fitzpatrick has already been ruled out of the Steelers’ Week 16 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. With two days off, Thompson is unlikely to play, therefore the team will have to start cornerback Patrick Peterson and member of the practice squad Eric Rowe.
Among the full participants who missed part or all of practice yesterday for Pittsburgh were defensive lineman Cam Heyward (concussion), tight end Pat Freiermuth (knee), offensive tackle Broderick Jones (ankle) and running back Najee Harris (knee).
The final injury report for the Steelers will be released following one more session. Riley’s release from injured reserve and Heyward’s release from concussion protocol are due on Friday.
