BAD NEWS ON Cowboys injuries: Stephon Gilmore, a free agent, leads a trio that requires surgery.
Following the season’s disappointing playoff defeat to Green Bay, three Cowboys players—offensive lineman T.J. Bass, tight end Peyton Hendershot, and cornerback Stephon Gilmore—had surgery. Gilmore is the main focus for two reasons.
PThree Dallas Cowboys are having surgery this offseason in preparation for their 2024 rematch. They come into the season a little bruised.
Hendershot and Bass, as first reported by ESPN, should be prepared to fully engage in The Star’s offseason programme. Gilmore, on the other hand, would likely need four to six months to heal before making his comeback, ideally in time for training camp.
In addition, Gilmore, who turns 34 in September, is set to hit free agency while Hendershot and Bass are still under contract. Even though he started in his one season in Dallas following the shrewd trade that sent him to the Cowboys from the Colts a year prior, his age and the injury cast some doubt on his ability to stay in this city.
Gilmore underwent surgery for a shouder injury, which he bravely endured during the Green Bay game. Despite being young backups, Hendershot (ankle) and Bass (elbow) do play a role in Dallas’ future plans.
