The New York Knicks have sued their Eastern Conference rivals, the Toronto Raptors, according to SNY’s Ian Begley. The reason for the complaint is that Ikechukwu Azotam, a former video coordinator, is said to have brought “thousands of proprietary files with him to his new position.

Files that the former employee allegedly brought to the Raptors included: “confidential information such as play frequency reports, a prep book for the 2022–23 season, video scouting files and materials and more,” according to a statement from an MSG representative.

The Athletic’s Fred Katz, Mike Vorkunov, and Eric Koreen went on to report that the Knicks have also filed a lawsuit against Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), the parent company of the Raptors, naming 14 defendants in the case, including Darko Rajakovic, the recently hired head coach of the team, because they think the aforementioned Azotam acted under the Serbian coach’s direction.

The Raptors reacted with a statement of their own, via TSN Sports reporter Josh Lewenberg, stating that “the company,” which has been implied to be MLSE, vehemently denies any misconduct in the claimed concerns.
