JAKARTA – Sad news visited Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. Their physical coach, Gian Piero Ventrone, died at the age of 61.
Vettere reportedly died of acute leukemia.
We are deeply saddened to announce that Gian Piero Ventrone’s physical coach has passed away,” Spurs said in a statement on their official website.
The 61-year-old coach joined Spurs in November 2021. He was part of Antonio Conte’s staff. Previously, he had a career in Juventus, Catania, JS Suning, GZ Evergrande and AC Ajaccio.
Spurs said Gian Piero quickly became a very popular figure among other players and staff.
He will be greatly missed by everyone in our club and thoughts with his family and friends at this very sad time,” the club said in a statement.
Ventrone is a trusted ally of Conte. During his time in Spurs, Ventrone developed a very strong relationship with South Korean Spurs player Son Heung-min.
When Son scored a hat-trick against Leicester last month, he immediately hugged him.
After a touching moment, Son said, “Yes, he is a killer. He is a killer, but I have a very, very good relationship with Gian Piero.”
The fitness level of Spurs players has indeed increased rapidly after the arrival of Ventrone. He played a very important role in the Spurs pre-season this year.
