Lewiston, Maine local sources said that a mass shooting occurred on Wednesday night that left 18 people dead and 13 wounded. The culprit is still on the loose.
There is an active shooter in the Maine town, and a large number of emergency workers and law enforcement are responding. According to reports, there have been at least 13 injuries in addition to the 18 fatalities.
The gunman has been active in a few different places. The culprit is still at large, therefore there is an emergency notice advising people to stay indoors and avoid the area.
The hunt for Robert Card, the alleged mass shooter from Maine, has extended to Canada. After learning that the “armed and dangerous” trained gunman had posted conspiracy theories online, including ones involving President Joe Biden, officials issued a warning for Card.
Officials positioned along the U.S.-Canada border received the notice, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.
“It is to ensure the safety of Canadians and protect Canada’s borders against any threats or [attempted] legal entry,” according to the New York Post.
Honours given to victims of the Maine shooting
Colleagues and relatives paid their respects to 45-year-old Stephen Vozzella after he was named as a victim of the shooting in Maine.
“Please join me in sending prayers to Lewiston, Maine tonight,” said Vozzella’s brother Nick on Facebook. This terrible act has left my brother Stephen and his buddies victims.”
They also used social media, with Stephen becoming a member of the New England Deaf Cornhole League.
“NEDC mourns the loss of Steve Vozzella, a beloved member of our community, with heavy hearts. “He was among those who perished in the Maine shooting,” the New England Deaf Cornhole League posted on Facebook. “He is ready to play more and has won many podiums! Both on and off the courts, we shall miss him.
According to Aaron’s sister Kayla Putnam, who talked with WCVB, Bill Young and his 14-year-old son Aaron were bowling together when Card entered the premises.
“We will truly miss him,” Putnam expressed to WCVB. “It’s going to be very hard for the family right now to deal without him because he was kind of the centre of the family and everything.”
The Maine Department of Public Safety’s Shannon Moss, the public information officer, has confirmed in a press release that a news conference will take place at Lewiston City Hall at 5 p.m. ET, and that the manhunt for alleged gunman Robert Card is still ongoing.
Divers are scheduled to start searching the Androscoggin River in Lisbon, Maine, on Friday as part of the ongoing search for shooter Robert Card.
A representative for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries of Wildlife, Mark Latti, told reporters on Fox News that “it’s a tremendous undertaking and no one agency could do it alone.” “So having the resources that we have, both national and at the state level, really gives us a great team to fan out and really try and find him as quickly as possible.”
