According to the Sacramento Bee, Justin McAllister, a player at Sacramento City College, passed away following a collapse during football practice. The college football community is in grief. His age was nineteen.
Following a standard 20-minute conditioning test at the school’s stadium, 6-foot-7, 270-pound freshman offensive lineman McAllister found it difficult to breathe. After trying to gather himself in the team changing room, he fell. There were no results from attempts to resuscitate him.

“McAllister was loaded into the back of the ambulance after paramedics worked to revive him as stunned Panthers teammates watched in disbelief,” according to the Bee.
In order to participate in high school or collegiate athletics, McAllister had to pass a medical assessment. He also did not have any other health problems, and according to the coaches, he was not put through more physical strain than is typical.
Sean Nixon, the quarterback for Sacramento City College, responded to the tragedy.
