SAD NEWS : HE MAY NOT PLAY AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE SERIOUS INJURY REPORT….

Recovering from shoulder surgery in January, Norris says he will be ready when Ottawa Senators training camp opens in September.

Yes, he was frustrated by the fact he had to undergo a second shoulder surgery in two years, but he also knows it comes with the territory.

The shoulder is feeling good, so I’m excited for the summer for sure,” Norris said Friday as Senators players cleaned out their lockers and held exit meetings at the Canadian Tire Centre. “The rehab was pretty slow at the start, and it’s picked up a lot lately.

Norris makes his off-season home near Detroit, and he plans to resume skating next month.

If anything, I’ll get to start my training earlier because typically, once the season ends, I take a month or so off just to reset myself,” Norris said. “I’ll probably get an extra four to five weeks of actual training in, which will be nice.

I’ll have to manage my workload to make sure I’m not doing too much, but I’ll have a full summer of training, which is huge.”

This has been a difficult challenge for Norris mentally. He injured the shoulder in October, tried rehabbing it without surgery, returned in January and was injured again.

It was frustrating, for sure, especially when it happened that early in the season,” Norris said. “I came into camp in good shape, and I was looking forward to having a good year and helping the team out.

Sometimes stuff like that happens and it’s about how you bounce back. I had a good mindset going into it, but I got injured again. I had a lot of good people around me, a good surgeon, and I’m just looking forward to next season. It’s nothing to worry about. I’m just excited to get back.

Defenceman Thomas Chabot said he fractured a bone and tore ligaments in his wrist. “It’s not going great, still. My main focus going into the summer is fully rehabbing it and making sure it’s not something that stays all summer and into next season. The most important thing is to make sure everything is healed.

Defenceman Travis Hamonic injured the meniscus and medial collateral ligament in his right knee late in the season. “I probably would have been out another couple of weeks.

We’ve got a good crew here that jumped on it right away and I don’t think I would have been out too much longer.” If the Senators had made the playoffs, he would have tried to play with a brace on that knee.
