Wyoming News Now (CHEYENNE, Wyoming) – Wyoming high school basketball was in full swing on this Friday, and Wyoming News Now Sports was hard at work documenting the action from six separate games.

Beginning at the historic Storey Gym, where Central vs. East was the focal point of Cheyenne’s most intense rivalry.

In the first half of the girl’s game, there were just three points separating the two teams, making it a shootout. That is, until the Lady Thunderbirds went on a surge to start the second half and never looked back. East won 58-41 after outscoring Central 29-15 in the second half. With three players in double digits, the Thunderbirds’ scoring attack was well-balanced. Cash Haws had the largest lead with 13 points, followed by Jade Brown with 11 and Bradie Schlabs with 10.

Fans packed Storey Gym to the rafters, creating an electrifying scene.

Jade Brown, an East Forward, said to Wyoming News Now Sports, “I think that helps you play better because the environment is just so energetic.” “After that victory, you just have more energy and confidence in yourself.”

A gritty game that was close from the opening tip to the last buzzer for the lads. Nevertheless, a 65-58 victory keeps Central’s perfect record intact. The Indians were ahead 31–30 at the break after trading blows. The secret to Central’s victory in the last minutes was excellent defence and strong rebounding. But the Fillies didn’t give up and rallied late in the fourth, cutting the advantage to just 10 with five minutes remaining in the match thanks to a corner three scored by Lexie Ransom. But the Broncs showed they were too strong, defeating the Fillies 58–47.

The Broncs and Mustangs played a back-and-forth game that went all the way to the conclusion. Throughout the entire game, both teams were pouring threes, led by Neven Coleman’s opening triple. The Mustangs held a slim lead against the Broncs into the fourth quarter and defeated them 68–64. With this victory, the Natrona County Mustangs maintain their perfect 12-0 record.

Go across town Rock Springs was hosted by Kelly Walsh, and the girls’ game set the tone for the evening. With a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Trojans began to piece together a series of baskets. Lillian Hudson opened the scoring with a layup, and Ramya Green then made a three-pointer to finish the scoring. But the Lady Tigers refused to give up, and they spent most of the quarter trading baskets with Kelly Walsh to hold onto their lead.

Kennedy Davila, though, produced a few clutch plays in the closing seconds to tie the game. The Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Tigers 40–38 when Davila made the game-winning layup and finished with 19.

Following that barn burner, the boys teams faced off in another close game. Mason Eager and Jack Nicholls put the Trojans ahead early on, but Kael Anderson continued to fire away from mid range, forcing Rock Springs to back down.
