Transfer news: the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, declined to discuss his contract status.

Following a 31-17 defeat to the Buffalo Bills during Wild Card Weekend, which was the team’s fourth straight playoff defeat and seven years without a postseason victory, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was eager to discuss anything but his future with the organisation.

Following the game, Tomlin was fielding questions from reporters and responding to a few concerning the actual game. Tomlin abruptly ended his last press conference with the media when he walked off the podium in response to a question from ESPN’s Brooke Pryor regarding his contract issue as the press conference was coming to an end.

Tomlin’s current contract expires in one year. This is the first time Tomlin would approach the last year of a contract without an extension, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio’s report over the weekend. However, would Graves of the Associated Press later denied that assertion. Additionally, Florio stated that Tomlin will wait until the offseason to make a decision regarding his future with the team.

During training camp, Steelers owner Art Rooney II stated that he anticipates the team and Tomlin coming to an agreement on a new deal before the current one ends.

However, now that a challenging season is behind him, Tomlin will have an opportunity to determine how long he wants to remain in Pittsburgh.

RB Jaylen Warren of the Steelers is starting over Najee Harris.

Jaylen Warren, the running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was introduced alongside the team’s starters on Sunday before his team defeated the Green Bay Packers 23–19.

In the week leading up to the game, head coach Mike Tomlin informed Warren, who has been Najee Harris’ backup this season (h/t ESPN’s Brooke Pryor and Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh.

Despite sharing touches during the season, Harris is still listed as being ahead of Warren on the Steelers’ official depth chart.

Warren gained 101 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 rushes on Sunday, along with nine yards from two receptions. Harris combined for three 14-yard receptions and 16 carries for 82 rushing yards and a touchdown. 33 snaps were played by each running back.

This season, Warren has been the Steelers’ most productive and dynamic offensive running back, averaging 5.1 yards per rush (71/364/2) and 218 yards on 31 receptions. With 582 yards from scrimmage (on 102 touches, or 5.7 yards per touch), he is tied with wide receiver George Pickens for the most.

Despite not performing as well as Warren, Harris has nevertheless accomplished plenty on his own. The third-year pro has 18 catches for 115 yards and 4.0 yards per run (116/464/3) in his rush stats.

Although Harris was the clear favourite to start the season, Warren now seems to be worthy of just as many touches, if not more. After gaining 113 total yards on 14 touches in the previous week’s 20-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans, he has been absolutely explosive in his last two outings.

Warren, Harris, and the 6-3 Steelers will now travel to the Cleveland Browns to start a crucial two-game AFC North road trip. Next up is a Nov. 26 date with the Cincinnati Bengals.
