Moves & Injuries: Braves add two new players to increase depth
Braves sign INF on January 5. RHP Huascar and Luis Guillorme Ynoa
Guillorme agreed to a one-year contract for $1.1 million, while Ynoa signed a one-year contract worth $825,000 to avoid arbitration. With a.675 OPS in his last three seasons with the Mets, Guillorme is expected to be Atlanta’s main backup infielder. Ynoa missed the previous campaign while he healed from Tommy John surgery. He’ll give depth to the starting pitching staff.
December 30: LHP Red Sox acquired Chris Sale in exchange for INF Vaughn Grissom
Atlanta made a big trade with Boston to acquire seven-time All Star left-hander Sale in exchange for Grissom, a young infield prospect with promise. Sale made just 11 starts from 2020 to 22 due to injuries, so the team is hoping he can make a consistent impact in the starting lineup.

Jackson Stephens RHP (right elbow inflammation)
Anticipated return: 2024
On September 30, Stephens took the mound against the Nationals and shut out two of the team’s hits in two innings pitched. The right-hander has a 3.00 ERA in five games this season after pitching 12 innings and striking out eleven batters. (As of October 13, updated)
Dylan Lee, LHP (left shoulder irritation)
Anticipated return: 2024
Lee missed more than three months of activity due to a shoulder ailment before returning to Atlanta’s starting lineup in early September. He participated in four games before to being placed back on the disabled list. His placement in the 60-day IL occurred on September 17. (As of October 13, updated)
LHP Kolby Allard (inflammation of the left shoulder nerve)
Return anticipated: 2024
With left shoulder nerve inflammation, Allard left the game against the White Sox in the second inning on July 16 and was placed on the 60-day injured list, effective July 17. Allard, who began the season on the 60-day injured list due to an oblique strain, ended up having an injury that ended the season. (Updated as of October 13)
