injury report prior to Georgia Tech vs. UGA this weekend……..
In the most recent installment of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (11-0, 8-0 SEC) will play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-5, 4-3 ACC) to end the regular season. Bobby Dodd Stadium will host kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Bulldogs’ 38-10 victory against No. 21 Tennessee last week wasn’t without consequences. Georgia lost wide receiver Rara Thomas to a foot injury and starting right guard Tate Ratledge to a knee injury.
Due to an ankle injury sustained the week before, starting wideout Ladd McConkey only saw minimal action, and defensive lineman Warren Brinson was unable to go to Knoxville because of a calf strain.
Because the Bulldogs’ SEC Championship game against No. 8 Alabama is scheduled for December 2, it is reasonable to presume that they won’t be rushing players back this week.
This is our most recent injury report for Georgia, which now includes statements from head coach Kirby Smart.
Prior to sitting out last week’s contest, Brinson made a few limited appearances against Ole Miss in Week 11. Brinson has been working harder in practice this week, according to head coach Kirby Smart.
Ratledge left the Tennessee game with what was subsequently determined to be a bone bruise on his knee. Ratledge is improving, but according to Smart, he didn’t take reps on Tuesday.
Due to an ankle injury sustained against Ole Miss last week, McConkey was limited to few snaps of action. Smart stated that surgery won’t be necessary for the injury.
Last week, Thomas hauled in an 18-yard pass before being forced off the field due to a foot issue. Thomas’s situation is comparable to McConkey’s.
Smith hasn’t played since the Florida matchup due to a knee injury. Smart wasn’t clear on the timetable for the redshirt freshman’s return when asked last week.
Due to a shoulder injury, Humphrey had to leave the Ole Miss game and was not able to participate at Tennessee last week. Since last week, we have not heard anything new about his condition.
Dumas-Johnson did not play in the final two games after suffering a fractured forearm against Missouri. It’s unclear how serious the injury is. Johnson’s condition was last updated by Smart last week.
Robinson sustained a damaged patella tendon during fall camp, which will prevent him from playing in 2023. Before Ole Miss, Smart was questioned about Robinson’s status for spring practice.
