Julian Sayin, a former five-star prospect out of Alabama, is playing football up north after committing to Ohio State.

Sayin, one of the best quarterbacks available in the 2024 recruiting class, even went so far as to enrol early at Alabama and practice with the squad in advance of the College Football Playoffs. He has pledged his all to the squad back in November 2022.

Sayin told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Sunday that he was “incredibly excited to join the team here at Ohio State.” “Throughout my entire recruiting process, I held this programme in the highest regard. I’m excited to learn from some of the best players and coaches in college football and to help our team succeed.”

Sayin, however, used the transfer site in the same moment as a number of other Crimson Tide players did, after the announcement of Nick Saban’s coaching retirement and the appointment of Kalen DeBoer as the new head coach.

Sayin follows starting offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin and starting safety Caleb Downs as the third former Alabama player to move to the Buckeyes.

After famous Alabama coach Nick Saban retired, Sayin went through the transfer portal and committed to the Buckeyes on Sunday, according to many publications. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Sayin—a native of Carlsbad, California—was a unanimous five-star prospect and the class’s top recruit overall. In November 2022, he made a commitment, selecting Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide over Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, and Texas. “I held this programme in high regard throughout my entire recruiting process and am looking forward to learning from some of the most talented players and coaches in college football and contributing to our team’s success,” Sayin stated of Ohio State. Following a transfer to Syracuse by 2023 starter Kyle McCord, the Buckeyes have added to their quarterback depth. After spending his last year of eligibility at Kansas State, Will Howard, a former starter, will likely start in Columbus in 2024. The other names on the list are Lincoln Kienholz, Air Noland, and Devin Brown. Caleb Downs, an All-American safety in his rookie year at Alabama, also selected Ohio State as his transfer portal destination.
