The Celtic player will play as improbable elite international match.

When Scotland plays their most recent top-level test on Tuesday, some Celtic stars are likely to play.

Steve Clarke’s team is in Lille to play France in a mouthwatering-looking friendly right after having their qualification for UEFA Euro 2024 confirmed.

It will be a difficult task to defeat the second-placed nation in the world. Scotland, though, is in a strong position right now and just played Spain and England, two teams that are also anticipated to compete in the event next summer.

Callum McGregor, the Celtic captain, is about as consistent a presence in Clarke’s lineup as you’re likely to find. You anticipate that he will start for Scotland at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, as he usually always does.

Greg Taylor, a teammate in basketball, hasn’t been seen nearly as frequently at the international level. Given some of the full-back talent Scotland has available, that’s hardly a disgrace. However, there are now significant openings for the France game.

After suffering a hamstring injury while competing for Real Sociedad, Kieran Tierney will be sidelined for several months. Both Andy Robertson and Aaron Hickey, fellow fullbacks, started the match against Spain but left the team on Monday. (Twitter handle: @ScotlandNT)

Right-back for Sturm Graz Max Johnston has been called up, but after joining the Austrian team from Motherwell in the summer, he hasn’t seen much action. Additionally, he plays on Taylor’s opposing side.

Nathan Patterson, a right-back from Everton, is the only other obvious full-back on the team. Taylor is most likely to start the match based on his recent performance and the fact that Clarke is familiar with him from their time together at Kilmarnock.

That might put him up against Kingsley Coman, and players like Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann won’t be far behind. Of course, during the next month, Celtic will be in close contact with them both.

France vs Scotland gets underway at 8pm on Tuesday evening, live on Viaplay Sports 1.
