Ahead of their Divisional Round meeting against the Green Bay Packers, the San Francisco 49ers revealed they had ruled out a huge pass rusher. Important players for the 49ers and Packers are dealing with ailments throughout the playoffs.
Jaire Alexander, a cornerback for the Packers, is doubtful to play against the 49ers. Matt LaFleur, the head coach, wanted Alexander to return to practice on Thursday. However, on Thursday, the standout defensive player was unable to practise.
The 49ers already know the status of defensive end Clelin Ferrell. The 49ers ruled him out of the Packers game due to a knee injury he suffered in Week 18. Ferrell had to be carted off the field during their game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The fourth-overall pick in the 2019 draft has 28 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season. The 49ers will need Chase Young to step up against the Packers with Ferrell out.
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw was listed as questionable for the 49ers. Ferrell and Greenlaw are the only players on the 49ers roster with designations against the Packers.
