MORE UPDATE NEWS:
In just three years since the creation of the 14-team playoff field, the Packers created history on Sunday by winning a postseason game as the first-seeded team (No. 7), ever.
After dominating the No. 2 Cowboys in Dallas, Green Bay defeated the NFC East champs 48–32. The Packers, led by quarterback Jordan Love and running back Aaron Jones, had a dominating 27-7 advantage at the half and never looked back.
For Green Bay, love was virtually made in heaven. In his postseason debut, the rookie signal-caller performed admirably, passing for 272 yards and three touchdowns while committing no turnovers. Jones, meanwhile, turned in yet another 100-yard performance, amassing 118 yards on the ground and three touchdowns via rushes.
The 48 points surrendered by Dallas were the highest in a Cowboys postseason game history. It ends another exciting season in Jerry World when the team’s performance during the regular season did not carry over into the postseason.
Next weekend, Matt LaFleur’s team will advance to the divisional round for Green Bay. Who, though, will the Packers try to upset next?
The teams the Packers will be playing in the divisional round are listed below.
Who are the Packers’ divisional round opponents?
The NFC’s lowest remaining seed, the Packers, are ranked seventh. As so, Green Bay is left with just one choice:
No. 1 49ers at. No. 7 Packers
In the event that the Packers manage to upset the Cowboys, they will only have the 49ers as their divisional round opponent.
As previously stated, San Francisco, as the top seed, will play the NFC’s lowest-ranking remaining opponent. If Green Bay defeats Dallas, it will undoubtedly remain in that spot as the No. 7 seed.
The Packers are leaving for the West this coming weekend, regardless of the outcome of the Rams-Lions or Eagles-Buccaneers games.
