NEWS UPDATE: The Canadian Mixed Curling Championship now has …

Current Swift, Saskatchewan After the second day of competition at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Swift Current on Monday, there are only three teams who are still undefeated.

With a 2-0 record, Scott McDonald’s team from Ontario leads Pool A, while Jamie Koe from the Northwest Territories leads Pool B with a 3-0 record. Kyle Kurz’s Manitoba quartet has a 2-0 record in Pool B.

In his only game of the day, Koe defeated Cameron de Jong’s team from British Columbia 6-5, while McDonald defeated c’s team from Nova Scotia 6-4 with two goals in the eighth end. In six ends, Kurz destroyed Peter Van Strien’s Nunavut squad 12-1.

McDonald leads Pool A after five draws, followed by Saskatchewan’s Shaun Meachem and Nova Scotia’s Flemming, both at 2-1. Terry Miller’s Yukon squad and Pierre-Luc Morissette’s Quebec team are both 1-2, while Trevor Bonot’s foursome from Northern Ontario is at 1-1. Prince Edward Island’s Tyler Smith is winless at 0-2.

In Pool B, Koe has a 3-0 advantage against Kurz, who has a 2-0 lead. Charles Sullivan of New Brunswick is 1-1, de Jong of British Columbia is 1-2, Keith Ryan of Newfoundland and Labrador is 0-2, and Van Strien of Nunavut is 0-3. Evan Van Amsterdam of Alberta is 2-1.

At Swift Current Curling Club on Tuesday, there will be three draws. The competition is open until this next Saturday.
