Watch these Houston-area volleyball players in the NCAA Tournament.

On Thursday, the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament gets underway. On the route to the final four in Tampa, which takes place on December 14 and 17, expect to see several past standouts from the talent-rich Greater Houston area contribute.

A list of some of the players to keep an eye on in the 64-team field is provided below in alphabetical order.

The Big Ten champion Cornhuskers finished 19-1, and they have the top seed overall in the tournament. With 153 kills (fifth on the team) and 39 blocks in 24 games, Batenhorst is fifth on the team.

Going into the tournament, Brower leads the Bulldogs in assists (a career-high 1,143). The former Highlander has 2,617 assists in her collegiate career and is averaging 10.39 per set this season.

Cooke tops the Cougars’ assist total for the third time in her four seasons with the team. This season, the senior and former outstanding player for the Cavaliers has 535 points. Fourth all-time in UH history, she has racked up 3,132 assists throughout her career.

DeWine has reached double-digits in assists in every match she’s played in so far her freshman season. She totaled 451 on the season – good for second on the team – and also contributed 173 digs.

Glover was second on the Mustangs with 89 blocks this season. In five seasons with SMU, Glover has 618 kills and 392 blocks.

Janda is second on UH in assists with 484 on the season. In her two seasons playing for the Cougars, Janda has 1,215 assists.

With 332 blocks in her career and a career-best 117 this season, Jeter leads the Sun Devils in blocks. In addition, the former standout from Ridge Point has 184 kills, ranking fourth on Arizona State.

Johnson, a transfer from Fairfield, was chosen for the Sun Belt’s second team during her rookie campaign at Texas State. Johnson led the Bobcats with 257 digs and 350 kills.

Lednicky had a team-high 332 kills going into the tournament, leading the Aggies. This follows a stellar rookie year in which the former George Ranch standout recorded 387 kills in the previous year. Lednicky made the first team All-SEC roster.

The former Highlander won Player of the Year in the Big South Conference after having a fantastic senior season. Maberry, an outside hitter, with 401 kills for the season, 29 of which came in a match versus Wofford. In seven matches this season, she recorded more over 20 kills.

With 726 assists this season, or 7.64 assists per set, Montgomery leads Fairfield in assists. During her time in college, the former Knight has 1,771 assists. Montgomery has recorded 53 kills and 232 digs, which is a career high.

Muoneke made the SEC All-Freshman Team after making an explosive debut. With 285 kills (including a season-high 20 on her third career match), Muoneke has given the Aggies what they need. The previous Mustang has forty blocks as well.

Murphy is sixth in the league with 3.47 digs per set and got an honorable mention on the All-PAC 12 team. Murphy has 1,941 digs in her five seasons with the Ducks, including 392 this year.

Last week, Newsome won the Southland Conference Tournament MVP award for the second time in his career as a standout member of the Wolverines. With an average of 3.98 kills per set this season, Newsome has 446 total kills. She finished her three-year collegiate career with 1,177 kills, including six matches with 20 or more kills.
