NewsUpdated;£10m Sheffield United player included in list of Premier League flops so far for 23/24

It’s easy to say that most of Sheffield United’s new summer additions haven’t exactly gotten off to a fast start.

Despite scoring two on his debut, Cameron Archer has remained largely unnoticed ever since. Benie Traore has had difficulty,

hasn’t been seen much, and new defenders Yasser Larouci and Auston Trusty are only recently joining the team.

In the middle, £10 million acquisition Vinicius Souza made a strong start but has recently looked bad and slow. And in a reflection of Souza’s difficulties,  has listed him on a list of flop signings.

Vinicius Souza is one of the Premier League’s poor acquisitions as far in 23/24.
WhoScored included the United midfielder with an average rating of 6.58 when compiling their worst XI of the season for new recruits.

Coincidentally, Souza is paired up in the middle of the field with Sander Berge, a Burnley midfielder who has a 6.34 rating and who he essentially replaced at Bramall Lane.

It should be noticed that Souza has one of the higher ratings in the XI. It also indicates that he is not exactly producing and that United currently needs more from him.

Sheffield United News View: After a promising start, disappointing

Although Souza doesn’t appear careless, his performance levels have significantly decreased since those few beginning performances that had such promise.

Souza looked the part in midfield against teams like Everton and Man City, but like everyone else, he has subsequently tailed off.

This Sheffield United team needs to undergo some sort of overhaul right now. We require greater vigor, self-assurance on the ball, and defense sturdiness after the break.

Souza was added to the team to defend the back four, but he isn’t doing so at the moment. In all honesty, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a Slimane or Fleck return to the midfield if he doesn’t step up his game.
