DONE DEAL: Raiders has completed signing a new player to the practice squad

The Las Vegas Raiders were not ready to let go of their 2023 seventh-round draft pick that easily. The club confirmed Friday that it has signed rookie defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera to its practice squad after dismissing him on Wednesday. Silvera has appeared in just two games for the Silver and Black this season, totaling 24 defensive snaps. He has only two combined tackles. After four years at the University of Miami in Florida, the 23-year-old defensive tackle played just one season at Arizona State. Silvera was an All-ACC Honorable Mention at Miami, and he was an All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention in his lone season at ASU.

The club announced on Wednesday that it had signed center Hroniss Grasu to the active roster and waived defensive end Malik Reed. Grasu is in his second season with the Raiders, having played just five games with the team, only one of which was this season in last week’s 63-21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran center was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He played just two seasons with Chicago before being released in September of 2018. Grasu was then signed by the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he played two seasons, making one start in just four game appearances. He then had a one-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers before coming to Las Vegas. Reed had played in the Raiders first four games with Interim Head Coach Antonio Pierce at the helm, having started against the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs. He recorded a total of three combined tackles for the Raiders in those games. The 27-year-old defensive end played the first three years of his NFL career with the Denver Broncos. He was then traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Miami Dolphins in free agency back in March. Miami released Reed in August and he was signed by Las Vegas the following month. The Silver and Black will return to action versus their AFC West rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Christmas Day at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
