SADLY, a Pittsburgh Steelers legend was jailed for…
Tariq Carpenter, a former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, was arrested on a domestic violence charge.
PITTSBURGH, PA — According to TribLive’s Jonathan Silver, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Tariq Carpenter was arrested for domestic violence before being released by the team.
Police were called to a domestic violence complaint in the Crawford-Roberts neighborhood, where Carpenter “threw his live-in girlfriend to the ground and held her down against her will” following an altercation around 8 a.m., according to police.
According to Silver, the altercation was sparked by allegations that Carpenter had strayed on the lady involved. According to the complaint, the former Steelers linebacker became enraged, grabbed her out of bed, and flung her to the ground, bruising his shoulder.
During the incident, Carpenter’s girlfriend scratched his face, according to the complaint.
She attempted to call 911 from her cell phone, but Carpenter grabbed it and hung up. When police arrived, the apartment was in disarray. According to the report, Carpenter claimed he was the victim in the incident.
The Steelers announced Carpenter’s release just hours later. They originally signed him to their practice squad at the start of the season and elevated him to the active roster for three games this year.
He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing in City Court Jan. 4.
