Grambling has appointed a new head coach.

According to ESPN, Grambling is set to hire Mickey Joseph, a Louisiana native and former assistant at the school, as its next head coach.

Joseph, 55, will be introduced during a press conference on Monday. He was most recently a Nebraska assistant who served as the Huskers’ interim coach for nine games following Scott Frost’s dismissal early in the 2022 season. Following an argument with his wife, Joseph was arrested at his home in Lincoln in November 2022 and charged with felony assault by strangulation or suffocation. Nebraska will part ways with him in December 2022.

He will take over for former NFL coach Hue Jackson, who was fired after only two seasons at Grambling.

Joseph, a native of Marrero, Louisiana, played quarterback for Nebraska and in the CFL before embarking on a lengthy coaching career in college and high school. In 2014 and 2015, he coached Grambling’s wide receivers and special teams. He also worked at Nicholls State, Louisiana Tech, and LSU, where he coached wide receivers from 2017 to 2021 under coach Ed Orgeron.

Football Scoop first reported Grambling was targeting Joseph for the job and hoped to finalize a deal soon.
