In a “chaotic” snooker shootout, a player prevails. On Saturday in Swansea, Mark Allen won the Snooker Shoot Out, securing his tenth ranking title.

After defeating Cao Yupeng in the championship match at Swansea Arena, The Pistol will once again be ranked third in the official world rankings.

In order to ensure his spot among the final 16 players for the final play session, Allen had earlier on the final day denied Sanderson Lam in the third round.

The Northern Irishman then prevailed from a close tie with Oliver Lines to reach the last eight, where he overcame Si Jiahui.

Allen dominated the last two rounds, first beating Steven Hallworth before etching his name on the silverware with a 65-4 defeat of Cao.

The 37-year-old wins the £50,000 top prize, making him the first member of the current top 16 to win the Snooker Shoot Out.

It’s disorganized and insane. For the World Snooker Tour, Mark Allen told Phil Seymour, “That’s just what the Shoot Out is all about.

However, you always have the impression that everything moves so swiftly after the last 16 hours, if you can make it into the final session.

You might embark on a little spree. I’m happy to have won because, if you just go into that final session, you feel like all 16 players have a decent chance of winning.

The fact that I participated in the tournament and emerged victorious checks off a box.

I’m going to put it nowhere near the likes of the Masters, the UK, or Northern Ireland, but that’s what I want to do every time I enter one.

When considering the event’s overall context, let’s maintain realism.

However, I’m still hoping to win. Checking that box pleases me, as I wouldn’t enter if I didn’t.

Since it wasn’t selling many tickets and it was a little quiet on Wednesday, I must admit that I was a little let down.

However, today was completely insane. It brought back memories of our first Shoot Out performance in Blackpool, which was, in my opinion, the greatest location.

For me, this is right up there. The crowd is getting louder and louder as the day goes on, so it was really unbelievable in there today.

It was really entertaining to have a few nasty things thrown at me. All you have to do is accept that.

“I mentally prepared myself for whatever they had in store for me.

I had mentally prepared myself for whatever they had in store for me.

It was nice to have that at the Shoot Out once more because it had kind of faded over a few years.

I believe this week is going to be back to its absolute best.

Following his victory at the Champion of Champions last month in Bolton, Allen’s victory in Shoot Out glory marks his second title in as many months.

The Antrim man was under pressure to secure his place at the upcoming World Grand Prix by achieving strong results this week or next, since the event was invitational and did not offer ranking points.

Allen, the current champion, is now assured of a spot in the prestigious Leicester event; only the top 32 finishers from the one-year ranking list, which is determined by points earned during this term, will advance.

This week, I was acutely aware of that. Being the third or fourth-ranked player in the world means that you have to keep an eye on the rankings, which is not a pleasant task.

“However, it merely demonstrates that I’ve performed well in the incorrect competitions, such as World Grand Prixs and similar events.”
