Brentford is considering making a substantial £15 million bid for Sunderland’s standout performer…

Jack Clarke, 22, has been displaying impressive form for Sunderland this season, netting seven goals in his first nine Championship appearances under Tony Mowbray.

During the summer transfer window, Clarke garnered interest from Premier League clubs, with Burnley attempting, unsuccessfully, to secure the winger’s services.

Now, Alan Nixon, in his Patreon report, reveals that Brentford is closely monitoring Clarke and is contemplating a potential £15 million offer. Nixon suggests that a significant bid could tempt Sunderland to part with the talented forward.

Nixon also notes that Sunderland, despite their ambitions for promotion, may be influenced by a substantial cash offer.

Sunderland, under Tony Mowbray’s leadership, has started the 2023/24 Championship campaign positively, although they suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Middlesbrough recently, leaving them in 4th place in the table as they head into the international break.

Clarke’s impressive performances are likely to attract the attention of Premier League clubs, with Brentford emerging as a potential suitor. Although Brentford was loosely linked with Clarke over the summer, Burnley was more active in their pursuit. However, given Burnley’s struggles this season, they might revisit their interest in Clarke during the January transfer window.

Currently, Clarke remains a Sunderland player, and the Black Cats are determined to secure promotion this season. Nevertheless, as Nixon suggests, Sunderland may be tempted or even compelled to consider a compelling offer from Brentford. The upcoming winter transfer window could prove to be a tense time for Sunderland, as they could face Premier League interest in some of their other players as well.
