Stephen Curry contract details: Warriors guard signs massive one-year extension through 2027

Stephen Curry Extends Stay with the Warriors

Stephen Curry isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Golden State Warriors superstar has agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension that keeps him with the team through the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, Curry will continue to add to his legacy in the Bay Area. The new deal will carry him into his age-38 season, extending his time with the Warriors to an incredible 18 years.

Curry demonstrated he still has plenty left to offer, leading Team USA to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Last NBA season, he averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.8 three-pointers per game. His stellar performance earned him All-NBA Third Team honors and the 2024 Clutch Player of the Year award.

Details of Curry’s Contract Extension

Curry’s one-year, $62.6 million extension was the maximum allowed under the NBA’s “over-38” rule. This regulation restricts teams from offering contracts longer than three years to players who will turn 38 during the contract period. Since Curry will reach that milestone in the 2026-27 season and still had two years remaining on his original deal, the Warriors could not extend beyond that season.

When his extension kicks in, Curry’s $62.6 million salary will make him the highest-paid player in the NBA for 2026-27.

Additionally, this deal pushes Curry’s career earnings past $500 million, making him just the third player in NBA history to reach that mark, alongside LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Curry’s Remaining Contract

With the extension, Curry now has three years and $178 million remaining on his contract. Below are the year-by-year details of his deal:

  • 2024-25: $51.9 million
  • 2025-26: $55.5 million
  • 2026-27: $62.6 million

Curry’s loyalty to Golden State and continued excellence on the court solidify his status as one of the most iconic players in NBA history.
