Jets Add TE Neal Johnson and LB Anthony Hines, Release LB Jimmy Ciarlo and CB Myles Jones
The New York Jets have signed tight end Neal Johnson and linebacker Anthony Hines, while releasing linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo and cornerback Myles Jones.
Neal Johnson (6-4, 250) went undrafted in 2024 and initially joined the Rams in May but was waived in early August. Over five seasons at Louisiana, Johnson appeared in 59 games and was named All-Sun Belt Conference honorable mention in 2022. In his final season, he recorded 30 receptions for 383 yards and five touchdowns, with three touchdowns coming in the last three weeks of the season.
Anthony Hines (6-3, 226) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys in 2021 but did not make the final roster. He later signed a reserve/future contract with the Rams in 2022 and has spent the past two seasons moving between the practice squad and active roster.
Hines played at Texas A&M from 2017 to 2019, sitting out the 2020 season. During his last year with the Aggies, he totaled 73 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss across 13 games.
Jimmy Ciarlo (6-2, 225) joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent from the Army in May. He played four special teams snaps against the Commanders on Saturday before exiting due to a knee injury in the third quarter.
Myles Jones (6-4, 194) also signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May. He did not participate in the preseason opener. Jones played four seasons at Texas A&M before transferring to Duke for the 2023 season.
